The Office of the Public Defender is seeking a detail-oriented applicant with excellent customer service skills and experience planning and coordinating general services functions in an office environment. Excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as problem-solving skills, flexibility with the ability to work independently. The OPD Services Specialist will be responsible for providing timely, reliable execution of scheduled appointments and routes, collection and updates of fleet and facilities documentation and numerous and varied ad hoc assignments for the Facility Director and Chief Fiscal Officer. Professional and courteous demeanor in telephone and personal contact with the public, other state agencies and OPD staff and management; mutual respect in conflict resolution.

POSITION DUTIES
- Records Management – Schedule, coordinate, transport and track case management files for District 1 – Baltimore City and city-based Divisions, including Appellate, Post Conviction, Parental Defense and Forensics, with OPD Records Management Group and State Archives.
- Courier – Plan and coordinate mail/general courier services for all locations in and around Baltimore City, and statewide, as needed.
- Fleet Safety Coordinator - Maintain WebFleet data; Collect and enter once a month mileage logs; Conduct semi-annual fleet safety inspections of state vehicles; Update and maintain assigned/pool driver documentation; Maintain OPD van and corresponding recordkeeping; Manages additional vehicle rentals, as needed.
- Fixed Asset Management - Schedule, coordinate, transport and track delivery, relocation and redeployment of Fixed Assets for all sites throughout the State, including public storage; provide disassembly, reassembly and disposition services.
- Serve as assistant to CFO and Facilities Director, regarding maintenance of facilities and office services reports, procurement and logistics for district offices; other duties as required by senior and district management.
- Maintain important and confidential records, schedules, expense accounts and office supplies.
- Maintain Office Equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsEducation: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years of experience in general services functions, office administration activities or in the receiving, storing, issuance, purchase or requisition of equipment, materials, and parts and supplies.
Notes
- Candidates may substitute additional experience as stated above on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in logistics specialist classifications or administrative support specialty codes in the logistics field of work, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
Desired Or Preferred QualificationsExperience with fleet management, records management, mail/courier services, inventory, scheduling, planning and coordinating asset deployments.
Experience with lifting heavy items over 50 pounds, storage, disassembly, reassembling office furniture a plus.
Experience driving a E 150 cargo van.
Experience using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel.
Experience with customer service and planning and coordinating general office functions.
